GODLY PURPOSES AND PRIORITIES

Image
If our purposes and priorities are right, then we preserve not only our lives but our very existence. God has created us for a purpose. When we establish our paths to godly pursuits and purposes, then we attain success because it is done through God’s way. Today, success is not defined well. True success is doing God's will. How do we fare? How does God see us? Do we bring a smile on God’s face? Success is guaranteed if we bring pleasure to God. Failure to process right priorities causes us to waste our time, energy, and eventually, our lives. As men and women of the Lord, these are our purposes in life: 1. To follow and fulfill the Great Commission Sometimes our desire is focused more on leading people to higher visions or to the fullness of what God has for them. Do we have someone to bring to full maturity? Do we want to bring someone else’s sheaves? Mark 16:15-16 says, “And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. ABRAHAM AND LOT

The story of Abraham and Lot shows man’s different responses to the voice of God. While both of them heard God’s voice, only one of them obeyed. In the lives of Lot’s family, we see the hindrances to obeying God but in the life of Abraham, we see the keys and benefits to walking according to His voice. We learn from this story the truth that what’s more important than hearing the voice of God is actually obeying it. Lot: A Man Who Followed the Voices of Practicality and Fear As their family began their journey from Ur to Canaan, Lot was just tagging along with them, simply following the direction of his Grandfather Terah and Uncle Abraham (Gen. 11:31, Gen. 12:5). However, there came a time when Lot finally had to decide on his own. In Genesis 13:8-9, his Uncle Abraham left him with a decision to make on where to go and live. This revealed the true condition of Lot’s heart. Lot looked and saw the plain of Jordan that it was well-watered and so he chose this plain (Gen. 13:10-11).

THE WORDS OF DEATH, THE WORDS OF LIFE

In life, we can only speak two things: the right and the wrong words. It says in Proverbs 18:21 that death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. The words that we speak can therefore, bring life and death. The right words bring life . The wrong words bring death . John 6:63 tells us that words are spirit and they are life. Man is spirit too. That is why words can affect us tremendously. They can either hurt us or encourage us. They can either put us down or lift us up. Death is in the power of the tongue 2 Timothy 2:15-19 says that wrong words increase to more ungodliness and they eat up the soul like cancer. “...Hymenaeus and Philetus are of this sort, they have strayed concerning the truth, claiming that the resurrection of the dead has already occurred; in this way, they have turned some people away from the faith” (2 Timothy 2:17-18). A wrong word is a devouring spirit that can destroy the faith in others. The same is true with th
