WAITING FOR JESUS

Image
All of us are waiting for something. It can be as simple as waiting for our turn in the grocery line or waiting for our train to arrive. But it can also be as significant as waiting for the results of a dream school application, waiting for a long overdue promotion, or waiting for a loved one’s physical healing. But as Christians, we wait for so much more .  We wait for God to deliver us from long-withstanding sins. We wait for God to redeem us from our troubles. We wait for God to fulfill His promises in our lives. And we even wait for the day that we will finally see Him face to face. If we pause and honestly ask ourselves, do we know what we are really waiting for in life? And second, how is our attitude in waiting? There was a man in the Bible called Simeon who was tested in this area of waiting. He was an old faithful man who waited for a very long time to see the Savior of Israel and of the whole world, our Lord Jesus Christ, on earth. Luke 2:25-32 And behold...

THE KEEPING POWER OF CHRIST

Image
God desires His people to be strengthened, established, and stable in their personal walk with Him. His will is for His saints to know their calling in life. For some, He longs for them to be restored back to the ministry. While for others, God is teaching them to establish right relationships with others. Whatever you are going through you need to remember that your life may be the only Bible some people read. The Schemes of the Enemy In Luke 22:31 “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat.” Sifting means to examine and separate something from other things, particularly those that need to be discarded. Satan wants to separate unto himself those who are unfaithful and hypocrites. He wants us to doubt that we are doing the will of God. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. The main target of the enemy is our faith in God. If Satan can destroy our faith in God then he can destroy everything in our walk. We need to bear in mind that...

BEING APPREHENDED BY THE CALLING OF GOD

Image
The story in Luke 5:1-11 tells us about Jesus teaching to a multitude while on a boat in the lake of Gennesaret. He commanded Simon to launch out into the deep water and to cast down his nets for a catch. Simon had done so and they caught a great number of fish. The story ended with Jesus calling the four fishermen to become His disciples. These four fishermen at this point had already heard about Jesus Christ and had accompanied Him on several of His preaching tours, but they were still doing their own thing. They were too busy working with their livelihood, but in the sovereignty of God, Jesus Christ came and said to them, "FOLLOW ME" . There also comes a point in one’s life when Jesus just appears and turns up with a calling. But what exactly does it mean when we say or hear the word "calling"?  As described by Bob Yandian in his book, Calling and Separation, it is the will of God for our lives, the work God wants us to accomplish while we are here on e...

ENLARGE YOUR TENTS

Image
The enemy of enlargement is the thought that "this is as far as I can go." Have you ever faced your limit? Maybe the limit of your strength. Or the limit of your patience. Or the limit of your capacity in some work. Or the limit of your capacity to press on in God. Or the limit of your capacity to obey God. There are those days that God allows us to see our limits. However, it's not so easy to accept. What makes it difficult is seeing the distance between what we are able to do and what we want to reach and more importantly, what we know God has called us to. “This is as far as I can go” is essentially a statement of resignation. It can evoke frustration, grief, and discouragement. Nonetheless, God allows us to go through this for a good purpose. He wants us to better understand our limited capacity as human beings so that we may be humbled. Because the truth is we have an inaccurate measure of ourselves. We often esteem ourselves better than we ought to. And so ...

FAITH UNDER TRIAL

Image
© CreationSwap | Megan Isaacson 2012 In Luke 18:8, Jesus issues a question. When He comes, will he “really find faith in the earth?” While people can declare they have faith only when faith has been tried can one truly know that the faith proclaimed is for real. Our faith shall be tested. It has to undergo the fire to determine its genuineness because God is looking for genuine faith. And faith that is real is precious in the eyes of God. It is more precious than gold. This is the kind of faith that brings praise, honor and glory to God. 1 Peter 1:7 That the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, Today we shall look at two examples of faith that were tested by trials and have prevailed. Amram and Jochebed The parents of Moses were included in the list of the men and women of faith in Hebrews 11. They are beautiful examples of fai...

HEALING OF THE PARALYTIC

Image
Luke 5:17 Now it happened on a certain day, as He was teaching, that there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by, who had come out of every town of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present to heal them.        This passage is a beautiful demonstration of how Jesus and the Holy Spirit work together. Here was Jesus teaching but the power of the Lord to heal is said to be present. The word “present” here means "It is I." This indicates that the power of the Lord is a person and this person is the Holy Spirit. And He was present as Jesus taught. The Holy Spirit was with Jesus in the form of the Anointing. This was why healing was possible. Any healing ministry is only possible in the presence of the Holy Spirit who is the power of God to heal. In fact, the signs and wonders of God be it healing or others take place because God endows His people with His Spirit. Further, only when a work is anointed by God does it become accep...

THE IMMEDIATES

Image
While praying and meditating about the fellowship that God has planted us in, the Lord has impressed upon me what I call as “Immediates”. These pertain to things that would require immediate obedience, immediate repentance... Things that need to be immediately addressed in our fellowship:   The immediates : 1.Immediate need for purity 2.Immediate need for faith 3.Immediate need to press in  1. NEED FOR PURITY  - not just pertaining to being morally and sexually pure, but also being free from the defilement of he worldliness that surrounds us. - We should have a cautiousness, a sense of carefulness in the things we see and think of - Being married does not protect one from having purity struggles. - We should have excellence in purity. This area should be dealt with and treated with all seriousness. - Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God! Matthew 5:28 - We must be cleansed from all our desires that go against the perfect wi...

THE PILGRIM

Image
The Scripture tells us that we are to live as pilgrims in this world, sojourners who are merely passing through on their way to their heavenly home. Has this reality hit us yet? Are we living it out? Looking at the life of the Patriarch Abraham we see some precious truths about how it is to live as a pilgrim. May we learn from his example and be faithful pilgrims to the end!  Hebrews 11:8-10 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God. 1.   Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance.   He obeyed God even when it meant living his comfort zone. He obeyed even w...
