YOU ARE BLESSED TO BLESS

Image
The Lord allows us to receive from Him for reasons beyond just to bless us. The Lord led people in the Scripture to blessings so that they may also be an overflow of blessing to others. In the same way today, the Lord blesses us and our church so that we may be able to minister to the nations. But before being sent to the nations, we first need to be faithful in our “ Jerusalem ” - the place of our calling. The blessings of God strengthen and encourage us but just as well, His blessings are meant for us to bear fruits for Him. Here we will look at the lives of some men of God which He used to be blessings to nations, beginning with their own places of calling. Elisha (1 Kings 19:19-21) The calling of Elisha started on a field when Elijah threw his mantle on him. After this meeting, he gave up his life, left his parents and became a faithful follower of Elijah. In 2 Kings 2, again we see Elisha clinging to the prophet even though Elijah himself wants to leave him in several place

POUNDS AND TALENTS

The same command is true to us today as He has entrusted each one of us with “minas” of which God will ask us to give an account. Just the thought that Jesus used the word "business" tells us that the ministry God gives to us is "work." And just like a businessman, God expects returns on His investment. In the same way that the nobleman returned to settle accounts with his servants, Jesus will come back again and judgment will begin in His own household – the Church (1 Peter 4:17). In this parable, the citizens hated the nobleman and that tells about the Jews’ rejection of Jesus. The servants are those who believe in the Lord. Ten minas were given to ten servants; therefore, each of the servants received one mina. Source: Sweet Publishing/FreeBibleimages.org Th

HAVING THE RIGHT PURSUITS

At the start of the year, it is essential we get our perspective right. Aiming for the right things can help make 2017 a fruitful year. Before we hit the ground running, we need to have it clear in our minds what we are to pursue. Otherwise, the year might just be spent running aimlessly. In the Bible, there are 158 verses on the word “ joy ” and these verses did not point to having joy because of material wealth or success. The Lord is our Provider. We ought not to be investing in the things of this world but to that which is eternal . The great men and women of God found true joy because they don’t have interests in wealth and material possessions. When they testify, you see freedom in them and they were never afraid and so, we hope to be like them in our walk with God. In 2016, there could be a number of instructions the Lord has given us. In line with these instructions, we need to seek God on how we can completely obey and finish them for this new year. As we start 2017, we

A FRESH START

A new year speaks of a fresh start for all of us. Most of us hope that this will be a good year and that by the grace of God, it will be a year of better responses, better attitudes, and better words. We hope that it will be a year of deeper knowledge and higher level of maturity. We may have made wrong decisions in the past year that led to failures and missed opportunities. We may have hurt the heart of God through our words and actions towards other people. But the Lord desires for us to come before Him with a repentant heart and experience a fresh start. We pray that this will be a year of yearning for more of God in our lives. Most of us, if not all, are familiar with the Parable of the Lost Son as seen in Luke 15:11-24. It’s a story of a younger son who asked for his share of inheritance from his father. The father granted his son’s request and not long after, the younger son journeyed to a far country and wasted his possessions with prodigal living. But when he had sp
